Emergency First Aid for Dogs by Martin Bucksch

Emergency First Aid for DogsThe concept of this book is excellent and it does cover the basics of first aid. There are some good tips for prevention of problems which seem like common sense but lets face it - we can all demonstrate muppetry on occasion, so it is worth re-stating the basics!

It covers crisis situations and tells you what to look for and what to do should your dog go into shock for example, or be bleeding or not breathing. It is clearly written and easy to follow, although if something that bad happened to Rags I would probably not have the wherewithall to read the relevent bit and calmly follow it, so perhaps reading up in advance and practising calculating pulse rate etc would be a good thing to do.

It also contains an A to Z of common things with clear descriptions and what you should do. This is a really handy little book which will save you uncertainty and worry and mean that your dog gets problems recognised and treated more quickly and therefore cause him less distress and pain. I would say this is a must have for any dog owner and would recommend it wholeheartedly.
